Jill Thompson has been hit with some unbelievable news: her husband Leonard, thought to be dead for ten years, actually died a week ago. With the help of insurance investigator Mike McCoy, she learns that, for the past ten years, Leonard has actually been living in the quaint town of Hillbrook. And the ten million dollars he embezzled from his company was never recovered.
Jill travels with Mike to Hillbrook to identify the body and to learn what sort of life her husband was living without her. With the help of the local sheriff, the discover that Leonard was living large in the small town - he owned a massive estate and many expensive works of art. According to the sheriff, Leonard died of heatstroke while jogging, but something doesn't add up for Jill...
Investigating the scene later, Jill discovers evidence that her husband was murdered. Further, she learns that he had hidden over 5 million dollars before his death. But Jill's no the only one who knows - someone has torn Leonard's house apart looking for the missing money. And someone's trying to stop her - watching her every move, running her off the road, and attacking her at home. It will take all of Jill's courage and determination to learn who she can trust, who to beware, and uncover the secrets hiding in Hillbrook.
